comandos201124042011 (12)

There has been a significantly less emergencies this year during holy week vacation as witnessed during our -Somos Comandos de Salvamento 2011-nationwide support operation. Since the vacation started, to this afternoon, easter Sunday, there have been 32 patients with common injuries, 4 MVAs, 124 water rescues, and of those, 84 were shallow water while the rest were deep water. There have been 4 deaths reported. CDS believes that the reduction in emergencies is a result of strong preventive educational campaigns that have been developed and deployed by all EMS institutions hand in hand with National Civil Protection. Journalist helping the Comandos

Olimpia: Periodista Fumigando

Journalist Olimpia Alvarez of the Telecorporación Salvadoreña “TCS” learned how to combat dengue while documenting the work of the Comandos at the Instituto Nacional Francisco Morazán in San Salvador. Olimpia wanted to give her viewers a taste of what it is like to work as a comando eradicating mosquitos that carry the dengue virus. Dengue can become a problem when stagnant water creates a perfect habitat for mosquito larvae to grow and multiply. Comandos continue to donate their time to improve preventive public healthcare by offering this free service of fumigation via their “Vectores” “zancudo combat crew”. Fotos CDS.
