comandos201124042011 (12)

There has been a significantly less emergencies this year during holy week vacation as witnessed during our -Somos Comandos de Salvamento 2011-nationwide support operation. Since the vacation started, to this afternoon, easter Sunday, there have been 32 patients with common injuries, 4 MVAs, 124 water rescues, and of those, 84 were shallow water while the rest were deep water. There have been 4 deaths reported. CDS believes that the reduction in emergencies is a result of strong preventive educational campaigns that have been developed and deployed by all EMS institutions hand in hand with National Civil Protection. Immortalized in an Anthropology Book

A Salvadoran student of Anthropology recently forwarded us a scanned image from her book Cultures and customs of El Salvador by Boland, R. (2001). Westport Connecticut: Greenwood Press. The image was taken during the general offensive of 1989 and shows Comando EMS members evacuating an injured military soldier. We are very proud to have our work shown at the international level in Universities of the United States.
