Comandos de Salvamento are present in Cojutepeque outside the jail ready for action.

A jail riot started over 13 days ago and includes prisons throughout the country including Sonsonate and Mariona jail north of Mejicanos. Two handmade grenade explosions went off inside the jail of “Cojute”, killing  two guards and inuring others. Brigade leader and CDS veteran Edgar Jhony Ramos has been present along with other EMS staff to attend to patients.

Various reports explain that it has been going on for a while due to gang rivalry. There is even mention of a hidden escape tunnel that has been found. Colatino has more info here. Fotos: CDS
