December Operations
Con el objetivo de buscar la reducción de accidentes de tránsito así como las quemaduras producidas por la pólvora Comandos de Salvamento El Salvador lanza su campaña “Tu Ángel Guardián”, que tiene por objetivo provenir y llevar auxilio a las personas que se encuentran en peligro o que han resultado lesionadas.
La Campaña “Tu Ángel Guardián” se desarrollara de diciembre de 2011 a diciembre de 2012, haciendo énfasis en las tradicionales vacaciones de los salvadoreños durante las fiestas de fin de año, temporada de Semana Santa de 2012 y las Fiestas Patronales dedicadas a El Salvador del Mundo de 2012 así como las fiestas navideñas de ese año.
Durante la campaña Comandos de Salvamento repartirá entre el pueblo Salvadoreño 120 mil hojas volantes con consejos para evitar accidentes de tránsito como: El uso del cinturón de seguridad, No manejar en estado de ebriedad, No invadir el carril contrario, Evitar el uso del teléfono celular mientras maneja, etc. Y Otros recomendaciones para los veraneantes en las playas y para los que queman pólvora y otros que puedan causar accidentes.
La campaña también tiene por objetivo dar a conocer nuestro nuevo numero para atender emergencias que es el 2133-0000, aunque siempre estará disponible el 2221-1310, Es importante para toda la población reconocer este número y tener la confianza de que en caso de emergencia será atendido la rapidez del caso.
Esta campaña será clausurada entre el 05 o 10 de diciembre de 2012 durante la celebración del día Internacional del voluntario, que será cuando la Junta Directiva y La Dirección ejecutiva presentaran los resultados obtenidos en beneficio de la Población Salvadoreña.
Comandos de Salvamento hace un llamado a la Empresa Privada, Organizaciones Gubernamentales y no Gubernamentales y medios de comunicación a unirse a la Campaña “Tu Ángel Guardián”, patrocinando la impresión de las hojas volantes y distribuyéndolas por sus propios medios entre la población salvadoreña para contribuir a combatir el flagelo de los accidentes que tantas víctimas causan entre la población.

Loyal Dog Rocky Takes a Bullet While Defending Owner
Comandos de Salvamento offered EMS to a faithful dog that suffered a gunshot wound after defending his owner during an armed robbery this morning in downtown Sensuntepeque, Cabañas. According to witnesses on scene, a man arrived at the “La Nueva” business establishment and pulled out a gun demanding money. A struggle ensued and the alleged robber shot at the owner. Instantly, the owner’s vigilant dog named “Rocky” attacked and bit the criminal only to receive a bullet in the abdomen. The man staggered and ran away with a bite wound on his right arm above the elbow. Comando EMS Volunteers arrived to find Rocky nursing his wound amongst supportive family members. The owner was transported by Police to the National Hospital of Sensuntepeque while Rocky was secured and transported by CDS to a local Veterinarian in Sensunte for higher level of care. From there it was determined that Rocky be transported to a larger animal hospital in San Vicente for possible surgical intervention. Fotos CDS: Carlos Fuentes.
Medical Consults for Victims of Tropical Storm 12E
CDS Medical Brigades traveled to the areas of Puerto Parada and Berlin in the dept. of Usulután to offer medical consults to those affected by tropical storm 12E. Flooding in these areas have affected those communities by damaging their homes and increasing the risk of illness. The Comandos did general health consults in the community center of Berlin and also El Icaco where many patients came from outlying smaller communities that are called cantones in Spanish. More than 500 patients were prescribed medications. Peoples Popular Aid of Norway sponsored the medications at a cost of more than 5,ooo$ and CDS is thankful for this collaboration to help meet the needs of Salvadorans. Fotos: CDS
Children’s Museum Staff Visits Bajo Lempa
The Tin Marin Childrens Museum located in Cuscatlan Park in San Salvador decided to send some staff members accompanied by Comandos de Salvamento to entertain children affected by flooding in Bajo Lempa. The entertainment took place in the shelter of San Juan del Gozo. Piñata breaking and face painting took place after 400 small toys were given out. CDS supports such endeavors since it addresses the mental health needs of those that have lost homes and belongings to natural disaster flooding. Salvadorans are one of the most resilient people in the world, and usually bounce right back to normal life fairly quickly. These events augment this process of recovery. Comandos Medical Brigades plan on doing visits over the next few days to prevent possible epidemics and mitigate negative physical and mental health symptoms as a result of the disaster.
