Two Germans became missing Tuesday afternoon around the Chaparriastique Volcano in San Miguel. Comandos de Salvamento, National Firefighters, and other first responder groups participated in the search.
Luckily the Germans, Jens Bauer and Anika Jentner, were located and examined by our Medics to rule out any injuries or illnesses.
Comandos de Salvamento SAR team participated in a rescue and evacuation exercise on floor 8 of the main government building down town.
The simulated exercises started with employees leaving the building to secure and safe designated areas while helping geriatric visitors. SAR workers arrived minutes after to assist. Bomberos, CDS, Red Cross and Green Cross also collaborated in the exercise in order to be more prepared when large building fire happens like the one earlier this year at Tres Torres Government buildings.
Lic. Pablo Caballero Pineda, of the Salvadoran Professional Leadership Agency (INSAFORP), was present at the base central to teach our volunteers about leadership focused on values and ethical principles.
Said workshop seeks to focus on righteousness, fairness, justice, integrity, honesty and trust within volunteers to create a solid foundation within any department of CDS that they are assigned to work in.
Lic. Pablo Caballero Pineda utilized group didactic work to put said information into practice.
CDS was dispatched to assist two people that were injured on their motorcycle while traveling along Boulevard del Ejército a la altura de Molsa. Both 23yo Monica Gabriela and 22yo Alberto Lopez were victims of a hit and run and suffered fractures. Both were transported by ambulance to the Social Security Hospital in Colonia Amatepec.
CDS was also dispatched to another MVA along la Avenida Masferrer Norte y la Prolongación Juan Pablo II, in San Salvador.
Patients attended included 52yo Miguel Ángel Urrutia, 42yo María Elena Torres, and 49yo Carlos Ordóñez.
Our CDS Extrication team was immediately dispatched to kilómetro 5 del Bulevar del Ejército to extricate 22yo Cristian Alexander Mejía who was a licensed plate vehicle 318-393 after it had struck the back of a ruta 29 bus. Fortunately none of the passengers in the bus were injured. Pneumatic tools, Jaws of Life, and extenders were used to extricate and the patient was secured, packaged, and immediately transferred to higher level of care at Rosales Hospital.
